Choosing the right disc for an angle grinder depends on the following factors:
The most common sizes for angle grinder discs are 100 mm (4″), 115 mm (4.5″), 125 mm (5″), 150 mm (6″), 180 mm (7″), and 230 mm (9″).The 115mm and 125mm sizes are the most common.
The smaller the outer diameter, the more suitable it is for light, precision work; the larger the outer diameter, the more suitable it is for large workpieces and heavy-duty applications.
The service life of an angle grinder disc depends on various factors, including the type of angle grinder wheel, its composition, the workpiece being machined, its dimensions and thickness, the operating pressure, and the rotational speed.
When using angle grinder disk, always check the condition of the disc, ensure that the size and rotational speed are compatible, install the guard properly, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Never use a damaged grinding disc, and do not exceed the maximum RPM specified on the disc.
The grinding/cutting discs for angle grinder should ideally be labeled “INOX” or “Stainless Steel.” We recommend using abrasive wheels for angle grinder with low or no content of iron, aluminum, or sulfur to prevent surface contamination. When cutting or grinding stainless steel, the discs also need to be highly efficient to prevent heat damage.
